sjba camp policies & guidelines

APPEARANCE CLAUSE:

I understand Saint Joseph Baptist Association (SJBA) produces promotional material about its events. I understand that my child may be included in videos or photographs taken at camp. I hereby grant SJBA the right to photograph and/or record my child and further utilize participant's name, face likeness, voice, and appearance as part of the event and in promoting future association events, without reservation or limitation. In granting this license, I understand that SJBA is under no obligation to exercise any of its rights, license and privileges herein granted by participant. Furthermore, the SJBA is not responsible for pictures taken by individuals that attend SJBA sponsored events.

SEARCH POLICY:

For the safety and protection of all campers, I understand that any bags and belongings are subject to being searched; this could include the emptying of all pockets, purses, and so forth. Anything that is found to be illegal will be confiscated and reported to local authorities and anything found that should not be at camp (per camp registration) will be confiscated and returned at the end of camp through your church leadership. Any camper unwilling to attend under these conditions will not be allowed at camp. Any camper unwilling to consent to a search at camp will be sent home without any return of registration.

***If you're questioning whether or not to pack something for camp, just leave it at home.

DRESS CODE:

Appropriate swimwear is expected, no bikinis or speedos.

If your clothing is deemed inappropriate by your leaders, you will be asked to change.

***If you're questioning whether or not to pack something for camp, just leave it at home.

CELL PHONE POLICY:

Spiritual Climate

When young people have cell phones at camp, the entire purpose of camp is compromised. Camp is a time of personal reflection on the personal relationship each camper has with Christ. When young people come to camp, the idea is to retreat from everyday concerns of the world and seek God with no distractions.

Photos

Another drawback of having cell phones at camp is the accessibility of cameras. By not allowing cell phones, we're eliminating the concern of inappropriate photos from being taken and circulated. This is in effort to provide a safe environment for all camp participants. Any camper that is found to have taken compromising photos of other campers or staff members will be dismissed from camp and may not be allowed to return.

Any cell phones brought to camp will be held by the Camp Director until the end of camp.

If there is an emergency or we are concerned about the youth's well-being, parents will be contacted.

PRIVACY POLICY:

Saint Joseph Baptist Association respects the privacy of personal information and understands the importance of keeping this information confidential and secure. This notice describes how we protect the confidentiality of the personal information we receive.

We treat personal information securely and confidentially. We limit access to personal information to only those persons who need to know that information to provide services to our campers. We are required to place a copy of each camper's medical information on file with Grand Oaks Baptist Assembly.

We may disclose this information to non-affiliated entities or individuals as permitted by law. Non-affiliates with whom we may disclose information as permitted by law include our attorneys, insurance carrier,  healthcare providers, third-party administrators, and law enforcement. Both the SJBA and Grand Oaks Baptist Assembly are required, as a matter of law, to store this information for an indefinite period of time.
